This photo was shot in 1994 and won the Pulitzer Prize. The location is Sudan, outside a UN warehouse for storing food and grain received as humanitarian aid. Nobody knows what happened to the child. But Kevin Carter broke down mentally after taking this picture and ultimately committed suicide within 3 months of taking this picture. Rice is a polysaccharide(a type of Carbohydrate), while Plastic are polymers. They will act differently when subject to either 'direct heat' or 'boiling in liquid (Cooking). While rice will absorbs liquid while cooking and soften and become edible, the other will not and will not be edible. They also act differently when subjected to 'direct heat' with 'plastics' simply 'melting' at a very low temperature and turn to a 'viscous like liquid'; The rice on the other hand(on direct heat) will absorbs the heat for a while before darkening and crumbles which we generally call 'burnt rice'

In one of our training sessions,my mentor collected a Nokia torch  hand set with fully charged battery. He brought a fresh egg. Then he puts the egg and the handset together and place them into a polythene bag. He tied the bag and told us to call the phone number.....
