  Men of the Nigeria Police Force   Mr Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), said on Tuesday that policemen would soon be deployed to their communities of origin to enhance community policing.   The IGP told a security stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja that the bulk of the 150,000 policemen to be recruited over the next five years would serve in their respective communities.   Idris, who was represented by Shaibu Gambo, Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, said that the move was to take the police closer to the people.   He said that the police was faced with a shortage of manpower but promised more policemen and equipment for Kogi to further secure the people against rampaging armed robbers and kidnappers.   The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Zone 8 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mr Jibril Yakubu and the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, were at the meeting.   The st

Chisom Okereke lost her life during childbirth   Chisom Okereke, the pretty young mother of two who died tragically on April 30th, 2017, while giving birth to her third child (who also died), has been laid to rest amid tears in Awka, Anambra state.   Family sources said Chisom was abandoned and left unattended to deal with labour pains and other pregnancy complications at the Magodo Specialist Hospital. File photo: Commercial bus in Lagos   Alamu Olusegun, a 44-year-old commercial driver, who allegedly assaulted one Kareem Suni, by beating him up, was on Tuesday, arraigned in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.   Olusegun, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of assault.   The prosecutor, Insp. Akpan Ikem, had told the court that the accused committed the offence at AP Bus Stop, Ibiye, Badagry.   He said the accused gave the complainant several fist-blows that caused him severe injuries, after a disagreement they had over money.   “There was an argument between the complainant and the accused, and the defendant started beating him mercilessly. Former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole and his wife, Mrs. Lara Oshiomhole   A total of 335 foreign nationals were on Tuesday in Abuja granted citizenship by the Federal Government after statutory clearance and due diligence by the relevant security agencies.‎ ‎ The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau,‎ who presented the certificates of citizenship to the foreigners, charged them to be good ambassadors of Nigeria.   Mrs Iara Oshiomhole, the wife of former Governor of Edo, Adams Oshiomole‎, who is from Cape Verde, is one of the recipients.   Dambazau in his remarks said that 335 applicants were approved by the Federal Executive Council in January, out of the over 500 foreigners that applied.   He explained that 245 of the foreigners approved were granted Citizenship by‎ Naturalisation while 90 were by Registration, mainly foreign women married to Nigerians.   “Let me say that application for the Citizenship of Nigeria which can

Tony Anenih loses wife, son   The National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commiserated with former Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, on the death of his wife and son.   In a condolence message by Mr Dayo Adeyeye, National Publicity Secretary of the committee, on Tuesday in Abuja, said it was heart-breaking for a man to lose wife and son within short intervals.   Mrs Patricia Anenih passed on at 74 in London on April 16. Anenih’s son, Mr Eugene Anenih, died on Sunday at the age of 51. A female suicide bomber (File photo)   The Police Command in Borno on Tuesday confirmed the killing of five persons in a suicide bomb attack in Konduga Local Government Area of the state. The Spokesman of the command, Mr Victor Isuku, made the confirmation in a statement in Maiduguri.   “Information received from Konduga has it that on Monday at about 2130 hrs, three Female suicide bombers detonated explosives strapped on their bodies at Shuwa settlement of Mandarari Ward Konduga , killing themselves and two others. “While six persons sustained injuries, Normalcy has been restored in the area,”  Isuku said   The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the command had on May 13 confirmed a twin suicide attack that rocked the premises of University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).   According to the command’s Spokesman, Victor Isuku, three suicide bombers hurriedly detonated IEDs strapped to their bodies, killing themselves and a university security personnel.   -NAN

Josh Webb killed his mother   Police in Oregon say a man entered a grocery store over the weekend while carrying the severed head of his mother before allegedly stabbing a cashier seven times.   According to Inside Edition, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office arrested 36-year-old Josh Webb and charged him with murder and attempted murder after the horrific scene unfolded at the Estacada Thriftway outside Portland.   In a 911 call placed at about 2 p.m. Sunday, the caller reported a male had entered the store, soaked in blood and holding a knife and what looked like a human head.   Before the shock had a chance to register with witnesses, the scene somehow grew more terrifying as cops say the assailant stabbed a cashier multiple times with the bloody knife, according to KGW.    In a subsequent 911 call, a witness told the operator that employees had restrained the assailant and requested medical help for the victim.   Minutes later, a 911 call came from
