You Won't Believe the Number of Nigerians Currently Suffering from Astha

Prof. Gregory Erhabor, a consultant pulmonologist at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has said more than 10 million Nigerians are suffering from asthma.
 
Erhabor, who is also the managing director, Asthma and Chest Care Foundation, Ile-Ife, gave the figure in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
 
The expert, who disclosed that 500,000 patients died annually, globally, due to the disease, said Nigeria had not done much in research.
 
“In research, we are still not where we should be, but notwithstanding, we are able to understand the cause of asthma and how to control it.
 
“One of the challenges is that many people do not know how to prevent the ailment.
 
“This is why the foundation is trying to make the awareness for patients to know the symptoms of the disease and study them.
 
“The Asthma and Chest Care Foundation gives out free drugs to asthma patients so that they can know how to control the ailment.
 
“We are being funded by ourselves and a few other donors. The government agencies should assist us because we cannot do it alone,” he said.
 
The professor urged the Federal Government to give asthma treatment attention.
 
He enjoined the government to train doctors, nurses and other health care practitioners in the management of asthma.
 
Erhabor advised governments to subsidise the high cost of drug for the treatment of patients.
 
He said: “Some of these drugs are not affordable and quite a number of them are not available in the country.
 
“We want a situation in which the government will bring the drugs down to the level of common asthmatic patients.”

Deeper Life Church Ordered to Pay Celestial Church N5million

The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division has ordered the Registered Trustees of Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) to pay N5 million as damages for trespass on land owned by the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC). This means that the Appeal Court upheld an earlier judgement by a Lagos High Court.     It was gathered that the CCC had, through its representative, Joseph Ebhodaghe, sued DCLM over a disputed land measuring approximately 1055.864 square meters, situated at Mulero area of Agege and registered as No. 75 Volume 2004T at the Lagos State Land Registry, Ikeja.   At the High Court, Justice Candide-Johnson in a judgment delivered on January 17, 2014, declared Celestial Church as the rightful owner of the disputed land and awarded N5m as damages against Deeper Life.   The court also granted a perpetual injunction restraining DCLM, its agents or servants from further trespass on the disputed land.   But, DCLM dissatisfied with the ...

  A SEMA official gathering the remains of the suicide bombers   Three suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers have died in an attempt to attack Muna Garage, Dabarmari and Dusuma villages in Maiduguri metropolis.   The incident occurred at about 4:38am on Sunday morning. Only the three suicide bombers all males, were affected by the blast.   Officials of the Borno State of the Emergency Management Agency were on ground to santize the area of the bombing and evacuate the remains of the bombers.   See the photos below;
