Hameed Ali: Lawyer Drags Senate to Court over Uniform Saga


A legal practitioner has asked the Federal High Court Abuja to restrain the National Assembly from compelling the Comptroller General of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd.) to wear uniform in the performance of his duties.
Recall that the ‎Senate last week insisted that Ali should appear on Wednesday in Customs uniform.
The suit, filed yesterday, named Ali, the NCS, the NASS, the Senate and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as first to fifth defendants.
The plaintiff, Mohammed Ibrahim is seeking for a court declaration that Ali’s appointment as Customs boss cannot be subject to the provisions of Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) or any other law.
A declaration that Ali who is not a commissioned officer of the NCS is not mandated by law to wear uniform and that the oversight functions of the National Assembly does not extend to compelling and mandating him to appear before it in uniform.
The plaintiff is also asking for an order of perpetual injunction restraining both the NASS and the Senate from compelling Ali to wear uniform in the performance of his duties.

Soldier Missing While Fighting Boko Haram in Borno Over a Year Has Been Confirmed Dead

Tijani died fighting Boko Haram insurgents   A man has shared touching stories and photos of his cousin who allegedly got missing and died during an attack by dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram.     Abdul Usman took to Facebook to pay his last respect to the fallen hero. How Nigerian Air Force Wasted Arepo Militants in Ogun (Shocking Video)

  In a video posted on Twitter, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has released the footage of its latest raid and aerial attack on the base of militants in the Arepo area of Ogun state in an operation which was code-named ‘Operation Awatse’.   The video clip showed two aircraft hovering over a militant camp, which had at least 15 armed men. About five boats were seen beside some makeshift tents in the camp.
