BREAKING News: Abducted Teenage Bayelsa Girl Leaves Kano Under Tight Security

The teenager who was abducted from her Bayelsa home and moved to Kano for a forced marriage, has left Kano and is on her way to the police headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria's capital,

According to Rabilu Ringim, the spokesperson for the Zone 1 Police Command in Kano, Ese Oruru, the teenager who was abducted from her Bayelsa home and moved to Kano for a forced marriage to Yunusa Yellow, has left Kano by road at 6 a.m and on her way to the police headquarters in Abuja.
 
He disclosed that the team comprised of an assistant commissioner of police and other top ranking officers who were travelling under tight security.

"They are on their way already, and the parents are expected in Abuja today where they would be reunited. She is being taken to Abuja based on the express instruction of the IG," Mr. Ringim said.

The police spokesperson said Miss Oruru was taken for thorough medical check late Monday night to enable her to commence her journey back home early on Tuesday morning, adding on telephone that the teenager indeed claimed she was 17 in several conversations with the police.
 
He said she also claimed she feared for her life if allowed to return to her parents in Bayelsa, but that the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone, Shuaibu Gambo, assured that no one would harm her.

It can be recalled that Miss Oruru was abducted from her Bayelsa home about eight months ago, and her parents, after trailing her to Kano, battled for months to have her back. They did not succeed.
 
Her case however caught the attention of the Nigerian authorities and citizens after the Punch newspaper did a detailed story on the matter on Sunday.

UPDATE: 13 People Killed & 8 Injured in Kano GSM Market Bomb Explosion...Details

Scores were feared killed as yet another bomb blast went off in Kano state hitting a popular market in the North-Eastern Nigerian city. Three persons have been confirmed dead after an explosion believed to be from a bomb went off at the GSM market in Kano, north-east Nigeria.  At least eight persons were also injured in the blast that occurred on Wednesday afternoon though details of the explosion is still sketchy. The General Manager, Operations at Channels TV, Kayode Akintemi took to his Twitter account to give more details on the bomb blast. Trouble for Tompolo as Court Grants EFCC Power to Seize His Assets

It is going to be a fierce battle as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have been charged by a court to confiscate properties belonging to Tompolo. Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo   A Federal High Court presided over by Justice Ibrahim Buba in Lagos has granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission the power to seize some assets belonging to a former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.   This order was given after Tompolo refused to appear before the court. Tompolo has been served court summons which he refused to honour. Bundles of Naira Notes Recovered by Police from INEC Officials Bribed During Rivers Elections

  According to SaharaReporters who shared the eye-popping photos on Twitter, the Nigerian Police Force's Inspector General's investigative committee have recovered stacks of bundles of Naira notes from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials who were allegedly bribed by Governor Nyesom Wike during the Rivers State rerun elections.   According to Sahara Reporters, the investigative committee of the Nigeria police on Tuesday, February 7, said the recovered money was given to the INEC officials as bribe by the Rivers state government. The chairman of the Police panel, DCP Damian Okoro allegedly disclosed that: "The sum total of N111.3 million was recovered from 23 electoral officials out of N360m." Transport Fares remain High in Lagos

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lingering fuel scarcity across the country had forced many commercial transport operators to jack up their fares. NAN checks on Thursday revealed that a ride from Iyana-Ipaja to Agege remained at N70, instead of the usual N50, while Agege to the State Secretariat, Alausa is pegged at N100, as against the usual N70. Also, Costain to Ikeja which had hitherto been at N150, now goes for N250. However, fares from Mile 2 to Orile and Costain to CMS remained normal at N50 each, as was charged before the crisis, while Costain on the Mainland to Masha in Surulere also remained unchanged at N100. Some of the commercial transporters in Lagos who spoke to NAN said getting the product, however, remained a challenge.
