How Woman Pretended to Be Pregnant for Nine Months Then Kidnapped Another Woman's Baby (Photos)
A
woman who was probably desperate to have a baby, did the unthinkable
when she faked her pregnancy and then ended up kidnapping a woman's
baby.
Kelly Mahon
The woman, Kelly Mahon, today admitted kidnapping a baby from his parents’ home after staging a fake pregnancy.
According to Mirror Online, Kelly Mahon told her family and friends
she was expecting a baby with her partner. She kept up the ruse for
nine months - and then kidnapped another mum’s baby around her fake due
date.
Mahon turned up at the nine-week-old boy’s home in Telford, Shrops,
out of the blue in February. She told the tot’s mother that her husband
had been knocked down by a car in a nearby street.
The single mum offered to look after the woman’s baby while she rushed to the scene of the crash.
When the mother realised there had not been an accident she returned home - and discovered her son missing.
A nationwide police hunt was launched and the boy was found at
Mahon’s home less than a mile away three hours later. Cops discovered
cots, boys and girls baby clothes and other newborn items inside her
terraced house.
Mahon admitted kidnap when she appeared before a judge at
Shrewsbury Crown Court today. As she entered the dock she stared at the
parents of the baby boy, who were sitting in the public gallery.
Details of the case were not opened by prosecutors and the hearing was adjourned until May.
Mahon, who will undergo psychological tests, was warned to expect a prison sentence.
