Nigerian youths serving in Ondo state were involved in an orientation programme on s*x and protection from STDs which has been on the rise in a rural area.

The Corp members of Ijare and Irese under Ifedore local government, Ondo state, under the supervision of Miss Ogunsola (LGI), today en mass trooped out to sensitise the people of Irese about the danger and risk of having unprotected s*x and teenage pregnancy.

Reports have it that It came to the notice of the youths observing thier National Youth Service Corp Programme in the South-west state that almost all the teenage girls in Irese town are either pregnant or don't have an idea of the risk behind teenage pregnancy.
 
We took it upon us as our weekly CDS today to go and educate the teenagers on the risk behind having teenage pregnancy and unprotected s*x. It was all a success as the people of Irese turned out in mass, to be educated by Corp members.
 
The Local Government Inspector was so happy with the idea and the way the Corp members of Irese and Ijare organised themselves, she also praised the team spirit and encouraged the continuity of team spirit according to a statement by one of the corpers named Komolafe Daniel Oluwole Durglaz.

Police officer who made headlines for helping initiate the processes that led to the rescue of the schoolgirls kidnapped in Lagos has been honoured    Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau and CSP Abba Kyari   Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, on Friday, March 31, honoured CSP Abba Kyari, the police officer who was behind the team that led the Special Intelligence Response Team that rescued the 3 abducted school girls in Ikorodu, with a Presidential Award for Courage.   It will be recalled that CSP Kyari led the operation that rescued the kidnappedgirls on March 6th.   CSP Kyari also led the team that rescued the mother of Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, who was abducted in Delta state in 2012.   It is an honour well deserved.   See more photos below:

153 Kirikiri inmates got Freedom

One hundred and fifty three inmates from the Kirikiri Maximum and Medium prisons, benefited from the amnesty programme of the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Oluwafunmilayo Atilade.   Among the 129 inmates released from the Medium prison, 79 were standing trial for capital offences, while 50 were standing trial for minor offences. Among the inmates that were released, three had been in prison for over 15 years. Twenty-four inmates were released from the maximum prison, while 129 were freed from the medium prison. Justice Atilade made it known that the amnesty programme was  part of her statutory duty to continuously ensure that the prisons were decongested, in order to ensure that deserving inmates breathed the fresh air of freedom. She also admonished the beneficiaries of the amnesty exercise to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that they do not relapse into crime.
