Meet the Baby Who Was Stabbed 14 Times and Buried Alive in Shallow Grave

The Thai baby boy was left for dead but saved from a shallow grave

The boy has staged a remarkable recovery after being found stabbed and buried alive in a shallow grave.

The little boy was knifed a horrifying 14 times then dumped face-down in a 20cm hole.

However, the smiling tot, who has not been named, has made an incredible recovery.

The boy has not been named publicly but has been pictured looking healthy and happy after his recovery

Mirror Online reports that he was found buried alive in a field in the Wangyai district of Khon Kaen province in Thailand in February this year.

Kachit Krongyut, 53, who found the baby, said she was taking her six cows out to eat grass in a field when she heard voices.

And she then noticed there was a spot on the ground that looked like it had been recently dug up.

She scratched into the soil and discovered a baby's foot before calling her family to help rescue the baby and transfer it to hospital.

She told bangkok.coconuts.co : "At first, I thought someone had buried their pet alive, but then I saw a foot.

"I tried to control myself and called for help. The baby was buried with its face facing down."

Her husband Pornchai, who helped, said the baby was buried in a 20 centimeter-deep hole. He also noticed footprints and heard a motorbike close by and informed police, who are trying to track down its parents.

Wangyai Hospital doctors said the baby boy appeared to show signs of physical abuse and thejournal.ie reported the child had been stabbed more than a dozen times.

But the baby now appears to have made an almost complete recovery and has been photographed smiling and playing while dressed in a Buddhist robe.

Abortions are illegal but common in Thailand, which has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in south east Asia but a ' conservative society that stigmatises premarital sex' reported thejournal.ie.

In 2011 an undertaker was sentenced to 40 months in prison for helping hide roughly 2,000 illegally aborted foetuses on the grounds of a Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
