A suicide bomber, who attempted to infiltrate University of Maiduguri through the works department was on Sunday shot dead by troops stationed in the school.

The suicide bomber, it was gathered entered the University through the back gate with the aim of penetrating the school before being gunned down by a vigilant soldier.

Confirming the incident, the public relations officer of the school , Mr Tanko Ahmed said the incident occurred around 11pm Sunday night.

He said the works department where the incident occurred have been cordoned off by security agents to render the area safe.

”The area have been cordoned off by security agents.”

The Nigerian police has tendered its reports on needed funds to tackle the rampaging insurgency in the north-eastern part of Nigeria before a constituted committee in the lower house. IGP Solomon Arase Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, Thursday said the Nigeria Police needs N8.7billion to effectively combat Boko Haram insurgency in the North East of Nigeria.
