Skye Bank Plc has dismissed the report published in an online medium, Sahara Reporters, alleging that the bank and eight others were found to have liquidity stress after a Central Bank of Nigeria examination. This report is coming just 24 hours after the CBN Governor addressed the media at the end of a 2-day monetary Policy Committee Meeting which noted that no bank is distressed or suffering from inadequate capital. Skye Bank said neither the CBN nor any other regulatory agency conducted any stress test on the bank. A young man was alleged to have stolen and was mobbed by onlookers and passers-by at Alapere area of Lagos today, 26th of November.  His clothes were torn and he was beaten blueblack. Female inmates in a prison in Brazil came out in their numbers to contest for the title of Miss criminal 2015 in the prison beauty contest. Contestants at the Miss Criminal pageant   The annual Miss Criminal 2015 pageant was held at the Talavera Bruce women’s prison in Rio de Janeiro and was won by a woman serving 39 years for robbery.   This year's winner was Michelle Neri Rangel, 27. She has been behind bars since 2010, when she was sentenced to 39 years for robbery - with an additional six years added on for prostitution inside the prison.   The women try on different dresses, have their makeup and hair styled by volunteers and even perform catwalk poses in the Miss World-style contest.   According to Brazil's Ministry of Justice, the number of imprisoned females in the country rose 567 percent from 2000 to 2014.   See photos from the contest:

The Nigerian police has tendered its reports on needed funds to tackle the rampaging insurgency in the north-eastern part of Nigeria before a constituted committee in the lower house. IGP Solomon Arase   Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, Thursday said the Nigeria Police needs N8.7billion to effectively combat Boko Haram insurgency in the North East of Nigeria. Speaking at an interactive session with Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, the IGP said the Force needs at least N8.7bn to successfully check mate insurgency. He said that there was another N57bn outstanding due to the Nigerian police that was appropriated but has not been released till date. Unidentified gunmen have shot at and killed an elderly ex-navy officer as they made to move away with his money. A feeling of insecurity has forced a male corper in the South-South region of Nigeria to physically abuse his girlfriend in a costly attempt on her life.   A Batch ‘B’ corps member, Jeremiah Osewe, at the Issele-Uku Orientation Camp near Asaba, Delta State, almost choked his girlfriend to death on Monday over a rival corps member.   According to the Leadership, it was reliably gathered that the victim, Stella Omorodion, before coming to the orientation camp, had a boyfriend who was unknown to her boyfriend at the camp. Doctors during the surgery   The womb transplant surgery was carried out on a 22-year-old woman with a uterus donated by her mother.   According to South China Morning Post, the woman, who was born without a vagina and uterus, has functioning ovaries and can produce eggs to produce a baby. Also, the Huashang Daily reported that Doctors at Xijing Hospital in Xian in Shaanxi province prepared for the surgery for two years and practised the procedure on goats as they have a similar womb anatomy to humans. The woman’s 43-year-old mother said she was “willing to give up her life to give my daughter a complete life” . It was revealed that the daughter, whose real name was not given in the report, got married before the transplant. A 61-year old woman was among several other ladies who were arraigned in Lagos yesterday for prostitution.   61-year-old Theresa Odega alongside four others who were allegedly engaged in prostitution, were on Wednesday, November 25 docked before an Igbosere Magistrates Court in Lagos.     Other accused were: Helen Ugwu (33), Chika Okoro (40), Roseline Jebba (43) and Sandra Akomake (58). They are standing trial on a charge of prostitution.   Ugwu, Okoro, Jebba and Akomake pleaded guilty to the offence, while Odega pleaded not guilty to the charge.   The prosecutor, Nicholas Akeene, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 24, at about 11.00 p.m. at Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos.   Akeene said the accused unlawfully engaged in prostitution.
