The Nigerian police has tendered its reports on needed funds to tackle the rampaging insurgency in the north-eastern part of Nigeria before a constituted committee in the lower house.

Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, Thursday said the Nigeria Police needs N8.7billion to effectively combat Boko Haram insurgency in the North East of Nigeria.
Speaking at an interactive session with Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, the IGP said the Force needs at least N8.7bn to successfully check mate insurgency.
He said that there was another N57bn outstanding due to the Nigerian police that was appropriated but has not been released till date.
On training, Arase said all constables presently serving will go on compulsory training to enable them move to the rank of corporal “and only the proposed 10,000 recruits will now spot the uniforms of constables in the police force”
