According to a report on TheCable, some members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) clashed with policemen in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos state, on Wednesday during the nationwide protest of hike in price of petrol.

It was gathered that the incident happened around the Zone A office of the Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) at Mobolaji Bank Anthony way.

While carrying out the order of the federal government to ensure that the unionists do not create disorderliness, the police formed a barricade on the road, preventing the NLC delegation from continuing with its procession.

The protesting unionists who were heading to the Murtala Muhammed International airport, resisted the action and it resulted into a squabble.

The comrades, who were chanting anti-government songs, confronted the armed officers, and the situation was about getting out of hand before a superior officer called for a meeting with the leaders of the group.

At the end of the meeting, the unionists were allowed to continue their journey, which started from the Lagos headquarters of the NLC in Yaba.
