It was a free-for-all fight as two pastors and church members fought each other over who is the rightful leader of the church. The incident which took place in Kenya has left many people wondering what manner of christianity they are practising.

Kenyans reports that the two pastors and several worshippers were left with injuries after the fight which happened on Sunday in Free Area, Nakuru County, Kenya.

Report has it that trouble started at the African Independent Pentecostal Church Of Africa (AIPCA Church) when two factions supporting different church leaders got into a violent confrontation.

The groups supporting two Bishops who are fighting for leadership of the Nakuru East Diocese, descended on each other using metal bars and batons destroying the church and a nursery school situated within the compound.

It is alleged that supporters of Bishop Peter Muiruri arrived with weapons as Bishop Naphtaly Thuku was presiding over the service and sparked chaos. Police were forced to lob teargas as they engaged the rowdy church members in running battles, with several people being arrested in connection to the fight.

More drama ensued after one of the apprehended worshippers tried to slip out of the police vehicle prompting a chase by the officers. The suspect was later captured and together with others whisked away to Mwariki Police Station.

Speaking after the chaos, Bishop Muiruri claimed he was the rightful head of the church having been appointed by the top management of AIPCA.

"I am the duly appointed leader in this area and these wrangles will be resolved in accordance with the law because fighting will not bring forth any solution," stated Mr Muiruri.

On the other hand, Bishop Thuku accused Muiruri of assuming office without following the procedure recommended by the church's Constitution.

"He was appointed on Friday instead of on Sunday as provided for by church rules so they failed to follow the law," claimed Thuku.
