Armed-Robbers Attack Hospitals Beating Nurses and Sick Patients to a Pulp
In a
bizarre twist, an armed robbery gang attacked two hospitals beating the
nurses and sick patients mercilessly before making away with their
valuables.
Two private hospitals in Okitipupa, in the Okitipupa Local
Government Area of Ondo State were attacked in two separate attacks by
armed robbers who robbed and beat nurses and patients to a pulp. The
incident happened last week on Sunday and Monday by the same gang of
robbers.
It was gathered that the robbers stormed the hospitals between 10pm
and 11.30pm in the two days, and forcefully collected an undisclosed
amount of money from the nurses and others at the hospitals. However,
they didn't spare patients and other hospital staff who didn't have
money to give. They were seriously given the beating of their lives.
One of the victims, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The
hoodlums were four in number; masked, and they came to the hospitals on
motorcycles. They threatened to shoot anybody who did not cooperate
with them, so all of us lied down and allowed them to carry out their
operation without any hindrance.
“They asked everybody, including the patients, to bring out
money and those who did not have money to give them were seriously
beaten. It was very unfortunate. We tried our best to call the police,
but we did not succeed because they also collected our phones and other
valuables.”
However, nobody was raped during the operation.
The victims however complained that after reporting the incident to
the police, they are yet to come up with anything tangible. In fact,
less than 24 hours, another attack was launched on another hospital in
the town by the same gang.
It has been revealed that the police are now on the lookout for the armed robbers.
