The Number of Gubernatorial Aspirants in Ondo Will Shock You

The upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo may be the most competitive in the history of Nigeria owing to the large number of politicians vying for the position.

No fewer than 30 chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are warming up for the primary election in Ondo State, it was learnt yesterday.

Also, 10 chieftains are struggling for the ticket in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governorship election is expected to hold in October, 2016.

The PDP aspirants are the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, his Environment counterpart, Sola Ebiseni, former Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta Hon. Kingsley Kuku, Hon. Bakitta Bello and Hon. Saka Lawal.

Others are Mr. Rotimi Jegede, Prince Nekan Olateru-Olagbegi, Mr. Bamiduro Dada and Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye.

The APC aspirants include Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Dr. Segun Abraham, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, Alhaji Jamiu Ekungba, Mrs. Jumoke Anifowose, Awodeyi Akinseyinwa Apata, Hon. Sule Akinsuyi, Olakunle Osunyikanmi, Odunayo Akinrinsola, Foluso Adefemi and Bukola Adetula.

Others are Dr. Bode Ayorinde, Olubunmi Agbaminoja, Chief Segun Ojo, Sola Iji, a lawyer, Hon. Victor Olabimtan, former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Adegbonmire, Light Ariyomo, Paul Akinterinwa, Ayo Akinyelure, Olusola Oke, Ife Abegunde, Akinyinka Akinnola and Dr.Tunji Abayomi, a foremost rights activist.

Tragedy as Lagos Council Staff Electrocuted to Death Right Inside Her Office

An officer with a Lagos state local government council has tragically died right inside her office when she got electrocuted. It was an absolutely tragic struck scene on Thursday in Ikorodu Local Government of Lagos State when the revenue officer with the council was found electrocuted.   The police spokesperson in Lagos, SP Oladapo Badmos, said in a statement on Friday that the victim, Mrs Toyin Ogunjebe, was electrocuted in her office at the council secretariat. ”She was taken to Ikorodu General Hospital where she was confirmed dead.  Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy,” the statement said.   According to the statement, the police Is investigating the incident.

Suicide Bomber killed in UNIMAID by Vigilant Soldier

  File Photo   A suicide bomber, who attempted to infiltrate University of Maiduguri through the works department was on Sunday shot dead by troops stationed in the school.   The suicide bomber, it was gathered entered the University through the back gate with the aim of penetrating the school before being gunned down by a vigilant soldier.   Confirming the incident, the public relations officer of the school , Mr Tanko Ahmed said the incident occurred around 11pm Sunday night.   He said the works department where the incident occurred have been cordoned off  by security agents to render the area safe.   ”The area have been cordoned off by security agents.”
