The Number of Gubernatorial Aspirants in Ondo Will Shock You

The upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo may be the most competitive in the history of Nigeria owing to the large number of politicians vying for the position.

No fewer than 30 chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are warming up for the primary election in Ondo State, it was learnt yesterday.

Also, 10 chieftains are struggling for the ticket in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governorship election is expected to hold in October, 2016.

The PDP aspirants are the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, his Environment counterpart, Sola Ebiseni, former Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta Hon. Kingsley Kuku, Hon. Bakitta Bello and Hon. Saka Lawal.

Others are Mr. Rotimi Jegede, Prince Nekan Olateru-Olagbegi, Mr. Bamiduro Dada and Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye.

The APC aspirants include Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Dr. Segun Abraham, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, Alhaji Jamiu Ekungba, Mrs. Jumoke Anifowose, Awodeyi Akinseyinwa Apata, Hon. Sule Akinsuyi, Olakunle Osunyikanmi, Odunayo Akinrinsola, Foluso Adefemi and Bukola Adetula.

Others are Dr. Bode Ayorinde, Olubunmi Agbaminoja, Chief Segun Ojo, Sola Iji, a lawyer, Hon. Victor Olabimtan, former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Adegbonmire, Light Ariyomo, Paul Akinterinwa, Ayo Akinyelure, Olusola Oke, Ife Abegunde, Akinyinka Akinnola and Dr.Tunji Abayomi, a foremost rights activist.

Police Nabs Lagos Fraudsters Who Defrauded Forex Trader After a Hot Chase

Men of the Nigeria Police Force have overpowered Forex fraudsters after giving a hot chase. Rapid Response Squad   The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Police Command, have arrested two suspected fraudsters who swindled a victim of his N10,000 and two mobile phones in Ojota area of the metropolis. Leadership reports that the suspects identified as Jerry Etiobho, from Edo State, and Emeka Ogu, from Imo State were said to have escaped from their victim identified as Lawan Muhammed but the squad gave them a hot pursuit and succeeded in arrested them. According to the police, the suspects had accosted Lawan Muhammed on Saturday, November 21, 2015, around Ojota, pretending to be seeking his assistance. The police said Etiobho pretended to be an importer whose goods were seized by the Nigerian Customs. He lied to Muhammed that he had a lot of dollars to change. The burial of the former governor of Kogi state and candidate of the APC in the inconclusive governorship poll in the state , Prince Abubakar Audu, takes place today at Ogbonicha in Ofu Local Government Area. Explosion Rocks Shell Trunkline in Ogoniland, Rivers State (Photos)

Trunkline explosion in Goi community   A trunk line which belongs to the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) carrying crude oil in the Goi community in the Ogoniland area of Rivers State was engulfed in fire and flames on Monday morning.    An environmental activist, Celestine Akpobari, who visited the site, disclosed that the inferno occurred just a few meters away from a military surveillance post.
