FG Declares Monday Public Holiday

 
The Federal Government has declared Monday, October 3, as Public Holiday to mark Nigeria’s 56th Independence Anniversary.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido and issued to Vanguard Thursday in Abuja.

“The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen (rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, while making the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates Nigerians at home and abroad on the commemoration of this year’s independence anniversary and assures them that Government is working assiduously to put in place various palliative measures to cushion the effects of the current economic challenges.

“The Minister enjoins all Nigerians to continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his avowed determination to build a strong, virile and united country in line with the dream of the country’s founding fathers”, the statement added

Soldier Missing While Fighting Boko Haram in Borno Over a Year Has Been Confirmed Dead

Tijani died fighting Boko Haram insurgents   A man has shared touching stories and photos of his cousin who allegedly got missing and died during an attack by dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram.     Abdul Usman took to Facebook to pay his last respect to the fallen hero. He paid tribute to his late cousin by name Tijani aka TJ who served in the Nigerian Army.   Usman wrote:  "T.J all your friends and well wishers will always remember you because you died for their cause, you died for the liberation of your own people and your land against terrorists the invaders. A man who took things for granted and made an incriminating post on Facebook has gotten himself into serious trouble. Allah Farrad   A man Allah Farrad will be spending the next 15 and a half years of his life in a federal penitentiary because of a single Facebook post. BGR news reports that Farrad, born Marvin Buckles, was sentenced on Thursday to 188 months in a Tennessee federal prison following his 2015 conviction of being a felon in possession of a gun after an incriminating post was found on his Facebook timeline.
