Imo state government officials presenting the car gifts to the paralympians

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has honoured three Imo State indigenes who won gold medals in power lifting for Team Nigeria at the just concluded Rio 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The governor rewarded each of the victorious Paralympians with a brand new car and the sum of one million naira each. He also extended his magnanimity to some of the coaches who have brought honour to the state.

The medalists who broke world records on their way to winning gold medals include; Roland Ezurike, Nwosu Ndidi and Orji Josephine Precious.

The Honourable Commissioner for Public Safety, Youth and Sports, Rodney Ajaelu had on arrival at the Government House presented the 3 gold medalists to the governor for recognition.

Although some were shy, they agreed but to their surprise, the money wasn't real and the whole thing was a set up prank. Some of the girls were pissed after learning of the trick. LG Workers Sacked by Gov Okorocha’s Administration during a Protest at the State Office of Nigeria Labour Congress in Owerri on Monday (27/3/17) No fewer than 2,000 local government workers in Imo State on Monday staged a protest against their sack by the state government at the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, secretariat in Owerri. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the affected workers from the 27 local government councils of the state, wore black attires and carried placards with various inscriptions. NAN gathered that the state Local Government Service Commission had issued sack letters to the council staff, claiming that they were ghost workers.
