Brother-in-laws should beware!
‘Uqba ibn ‘Aamir (R.A) narrates, “The Blessed Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa saalam) once said, ‘do not go near non-mahram women.

One man from amongst them asked him, “O Prophet of Allah, what is the command about the brother in-law of a woman?” The Blessed Prophet responded, “The [dangers in not observing hijab with] brothers in-law are like death.”

Bukhari, la Yakhluwanna Rajulun bi Imra’a

The Blessed Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa saalam) compared the brothers in-law to death [i.e. that a woman must be more careful in observing hijab with her brothers-in-law]. Although a woman is required to observe hijab with all non-mahram men, she should avoid the brothers-in-law as she would avoid death and observe hijab from them.

However, it's quite unfortunate that our culture sees a woman as the wife to the family especially the brothers in law and as such they could enter the homes of their brother at any time and as they so pleases..  Know and note that this is definitely *not* Islam..  But something else...

Take heed...

Your brother inlaw is not your husband neither is he your mahraam..
Cover yourself...

Brothers...  Your brother's wife is not your wife neither is she your mahraam sister.. May Allah forgive and guide us all... Aameen
