Gunmen Abducted Paramount Ruler’s Pregnant Wife

Chief Asuquo Abia, the Secretary, Traditional Rulers Council, Esit Eket, told NAN in Esit Eket on Saturday that the gunmen invaded the palace of the paramount ruler in the wee hours of Friday morning. No fewer than 10 unknown gunmen on Friday night kidnapped the pregnant wife of Ubong Assam, the paramount ruler of Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom. The gunmen also abducted the four children of the traditional ruler. Abia, who is also the Village Head of Afaha Akpenedi, said the gunmen shot sporadically for over five hours from 1.30 a.m. to 6 a.m. “The gunmen destroyed part of the palace with dynamites and broke into all the rooms and carted away valuables,’’ he said. SSS 2 Student is Stabbed to Death During Football Match in Lagos

A young boy has been stabbed to death during a friendly street football match in Okota, Lagos after the match turned violent. One of the players stabbed an opponent to death at the weekend when the misunderstanding started. According to Vanguard, some youths from Oseni Liade Street were playing football at the end of the street, when a group of boys from neighbouring Taiwo Street came to join them. But the visiting youths were told to wait for their turn. At the end of the first round, another set of players, among who were the visiting youths, were expected to take over the football pitch. Sambo Dasuki The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Thursday, December 3 continued its arrest and probe of high profile politicians and top military officers over the $2bn arms contract allegedly disbursed by the Office of National Security Adviser, ONSA. Suspects arrested, yesterday, included the former Chairman of the Presidential Implementation Committee on Marine Safety, Air Vice Marshal Salihu Atawodi.
