Gov. Mimiko Hurriedly Holds Emergency Meeting with Buhari (Photos)
Governor Olusegun Mimiko of the People's Democratic Party was suspiciously spotted at the Aso Rock Villa today, 28th of October to unusually meet President Muhammadu Buhari of a rivall party with fuzzy reports about their brief meeting.
According to TheCable News, Mimiko arrived at the villa around 11am, and he went straight into the President’s office for a closed door meeting that has raised eyebrows in the media.
His visit is coming less than 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) picked Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ondo governorship election.
Ibrahim belongs to a faction of the PDP led by Ali Modu Sheriff while Eyitayo Jegede, who is also laying claim to the PDP ticket in the state, is a member of a faction led by Ahmed Makarfi.
On Thursday, INEC published the name of Ibrahim among a list of other candidates, who will participate in the November 26 governorship election.
This has thrown the state into chaos, and Mimiko’s emergency visit to the presidency may be an attempt to pour oil on troubled water. Buhari's media aide, Femi Adesina shared photos of him with Mimiko on his visit to the presidential villa.
A report on Leadership newspaper also has it that Mimiko is desperately seeking to back the Ondo APC gubernatorial candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu who used to be on his legal team before politics separated them.
Below are the photos of the governor with presidential media aide, Femi Adesina, just after his brief meeting in bugari;
