Ondo PDP Goes Haywire as Gov. Mimiko 'Allegedly' Lobbies to Join APC

There are indications that Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko has perfected plans to defect to the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor on Friday, met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
 
Checks by Leadership newspaper reveal that Mimiko is looking for a soft landing hence the purpose of his visit to the president.

However, speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting with the president, he expressed reservations over the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a credible election in the state.

The governor based his assertions on the announcement on Thursday by the electoral body that Jimoh Ibrahim is the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in the state.

According to him, the action of INEC is potentially dangerous as it can cause a breach of peace in the state. Mimiko said the president has promised to look into it and that if there is any injustice, he assured that it will be rectified.

He said: "Under INEC guidelines, the time for substitution of candidates has even elapsed.

"This action potentially can cause a breach of peace. In Ondo state in the last seven and half years, we have done everything possible to put good governance on the table. We see this action as potentially dangerous.
 
"It can cause conflagration in the state and that is why as the chief security officer of the state, I have come to alert Mr President of the potential danger of this injustice so that we can nip it in the bud," Mimiko said.

Some Members of PDP Defected to APC in Ondo

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ondo State has suffered a set back as two former commissioners, Local government Chairmen and two former Lawmakers defected to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC.    They claimed that over 5000 of former PDP chieftains dumped the ruling party for the opposition Party according to the Vanguard. The former commissioners include that of former Adult, Technical and Vocational Education Mrs Kehinde Momoh and that of Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi.     A young boy has been stabbed to death during a friendly street football match in Okota, Lagos after the match turned violent.   One of the players stabbed an opponent to death at the weekend when the misunderstanding started.   According to Vanguard, some youths from Oseni Liade Street were playing football at the end of the street, when a group of boys from neighbouring Taiwo Street came to join them.
