What is the definition of CRIME PREVENTION? 

“The anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and initiation of action to remove or reduce it.” Effective crime prevention is proactive rather than reactive.

· Learn to be proactive! Being proactive means attempting to prevent something from occurring in the first place.

· Have SITUATIONAL AWARENESS! This means pay attention to your surroundings so you can identify potential threats and dangerous situations. You have to be “aware” before you can be proactive.

· Take responsibility for your own safety. Be aware of “problem areas” and make an informed decision whether or not to put yourself in that environment.

· Awareness and training are two of the most important tools to reduce criminal opportunity.
· Be aware of the social, economic or political climate of a particular environment.

· Pay attention to your GUT FEELINGS, even when you are busy or distracted. Many times after a violent crime occurs, the victim would say that they had a bad feeling about the person or the place.

YOU are responsible for your own safety! Law enforcement cannot be everywhere. YOU have to make good decisions.

· If you are confronted by a violent individual or a gang: Stay Calm. Don’t escalate the situation. Try to get accurate descriptions. Don’t argue. Comply with requests. As a last resort, physical fighting. Give up your property—your car, cell phone, money, wallet or whatever they ask for. 

What are you willing to die for? The majority of the time, they just want your money or your property.

Lagos to Impose Death Sentence on Kidnappers

Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode Lagos State Government may soon join the growing number of states including Edo, Ogun and Anambra that have imposed death sentence on kidnappers, Vanguard reports. According to a private member bill sponsored by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, “any person, who kidnaps, abducts, detains or captures or takes another person by any means or tricks with intent to demand ransom or do anything against his/her, will commit an offence, and liable to a conviction of death sentence. The bill, which is titled: ‘A bill for a law to provide for the prohibition of the act of kidnapping and for other connected purposes,’ went through a public hearing in the State House of Assembly, yesterday. Tragic! This Artist Hanged Himself Because No One Attended His Art Exhibition

An artists took a really fatal step to show frustration when no one showed up to see his work on his most important day. Stuart Bennett   An artist, Stuart Bennett, has hanged himself after no one attended the launch of his new art project which he had spent a lot of time on. 58-year-old Bennett, organised an opening day at his studio because he wanted to start teaching art to children. However the event clashed with the town's horticultural show - and nobody came. He then hanged himself out of frustration. A cleaner discovered Mr Bennett's body at the studio on Palmerston Street, Bollington, at 4pm the next day, according to the Manchester Evening News. He had left a handwritten note, artwork and a heart-shaped chocolate on a desk.
