Five African transfers to watch
We pick the five biggest African transfers which are set to make headlines in the impending January transfer window.
Sofiane Boufal to Paris Saint-Germain or the Premier League
French-born Moroccan Sofiane Boufal has been spoken of as the ‘new Eden Hazard’, with his pace, skill and dribbling ability likened to the Belgian who has gone on to bigger and better things since leaving Lille for Chelsea. Boufal could be treading the same path to the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur seemingly leading the race for his signature, though they have competition from Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs. However, Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest and the youngster is reportedly more keen on a switch to the capital club rather than a move out of France.

Victor Osimhen to Wolfsburg
Nigerian U-17 World Cup star Victor Osimhen has been one of the hottest young African stars wanted by Europe’s big guns. It’s no surprise considering he scored a record 10 goals at the U-17 World Cup in Chile last month, a feat which has marked him out as a potential world class performer. He has been linked to the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but it appears German club Wolfsburg have the inside track to sign him. “The boy also loves what he has seen about Wolfsburg. So, it is safe to say it is now 90% certain it will be Wolfsburg for Osimhen,” said his adviser Liameed Gafaar.

Riyad Mahrez to Manchester United
Riyad Mahrez has been a sensation for Leicester City this season, scoring 13 goals and racking up seven assists to help them to the top of the table. The Algerian’s incisive and speedy play is exactly what a laborious Manchester United need to improve, and it is no surprise that the Red Devils are reportedly preparing a bid somewhere in the region of £30-million for his services. The Algerian has stated that he has no desire to leave, but If United put up enough money it may be hard for the Foxes to turn down their offer.

Kevin-Prince Boateng to AC Milan
This deal has effectively been finalised already, with Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani confirming that they will be bringing Kevin-Prince Boateng back to the San Siro. The Ghanaian appeared for the club between 2010 and 2013, but has not played competitive since being released by Schalke back in May. “On 4 January we will register Boateng’s contract with the Lega Serie A and he will be available for selection,” Galliani said earlier this week.

Islam Slimani to Crystal Palace
With Crystal Palace in search of a reliable striker to finish off the myriad of chances created by Yohan Cabaye, Bakary Sako and Yannick Bolasie, they could well turn to Algerian striker Islam Slimani, who has been in good form for Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. He would cost the Eagles a hefty fee of approximately £14 million, but strikers of his class are usually hard to come by.
