Gunmen have shot dead a young footballer in the Central American country of Honduras.

Arnold Peralta, a former Rangers
midfielder has been gunned down in the car park of a shopping center in
his hometown in La Ceiba, Honduras by unidentified people.
The young man was assassinated yesterday Dec. 10th, according to police.
Carlos had been spending his holidays in his hometown since the conclusion of his team, Club Deportivo Olimpia's season.

The police are still on the trail of the killers but have ruled out armed robbery as the motive.
Peralta previously played for Scottish club Rangers and Club Deportivo Vida in Honduras and represented Honduras at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He was also a captain of the under-20 national team.
The player's father confirmed the death at a news conference.

He said: "This is terrible. They killed my exemplary son. I can't say more because of the pain I feel."
