Miracle Newborn Baby Survives After Falling Through Train Toilet

This is in fact the miracle of the year after a most unbelievable event happened in the life of a newborn baby who miraculously survived a danger.

In what many have dubbed the 'miracle of the year', a baby delivered inside the lavatory of an Indian train slipped through the toilet bowl to fall on rail tracks but survived, officials and news reports said Wednesday.

According to the report, the pregnant mother had labour pains while travelling on the train in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police officer Anil Sirohi said. The 23-year-old went to the toilet and delivered a baby girl that slipped out and onto the tracks from the train.

"Passengers on the train heard her cries for help and pulled the emergency chain to bring the train to a halt. Moments later they ran toward the baby and found it was alive," Sirohi said.

Railway police moved both mother and child to a nearby hospital.

"It is a miracle that the newborn girl after falling on concrete boulders of the track from such a height has survived," railway official Chandra Mohan Jindal told the Times of India.

"Fortunately the train was not at a great speed as it had just begun its journey from the railway station," Sirohi said.

It was the second such incident in India this year. In February, a baby born in a train toilet survived a similar fall onto the tracks in the Rajasthan state.
