Aondosoo Winifred Tondo, a lecturer with the University of Mkar, has been killed by unknown gunmen said to be numbering about four.

According to The Nation, the man was killed in the earlier hours of Thursday.

University of Mkar, is a Christian institute located in Mkar, Gboko town in Benue state and it is owned by the NKST church worldwide.

According to the Information and Communication Officer of the University Mr. Suemo Shagba, the gun men numbering about four stormed the house of the late lecturer, located within University staff quarters   at about 4am.

Mr. Suemo said the gun men shot him in the presence of his wife and escaped just as he said they touch nothing from the house fueling speculations that it was a politically motivated killing.

He was rushed to Myom hospital but later transferred to Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi (BSUTH) before he died .

The University image maker stated further that the lecturer had an ambition to run for the chairmanship position of Buruku local government area.

The Nation investigation revealed that the brutal murder of the lecturer may not be unconnected with his ambition to contest for the chairmanship of his local government because he was a likely candidate to win.

The Police image maker DSP Paul Yamu could not be reach as he did not return calls of text message sent to his phone.
