Man Electrocuted and Hanging from Shiroro Transmission Line

A suspected vandal has been electrocuted on the Shiroro/Tegina/Kontagora 132 KV transmission line ,according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria on Friday.
 
According to Punch, the TCN said in a statement signed by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Seun Olagunju, that the vandals had successfully cut the skywire at Tower 187 and proceeded to Tower 188 along the transmission line.
 
It said the incident occurred on the night of August 1, 2016 while the suspected vandal was“carrying out the nefarious act” on the line.
 
The company warned vandals to steer clear of transmission equipment across the country. It said apart from being an act of sabotage, “there is grave danger inherent in vandalism of power installations”.
 
The police arrived the scene and removed the corpse while investigations were ongoing. The cut skywire was removed and the line restored at about 6:40pm on August 2.
 
The statement said, “TCN management, therefore, appeals to the public to be vigilant and report questionable and illegal activities around power installations and equipment to law enforcement agents.

“This will ensure effective power wheeling for national development, which the TCN is continually committed to.”

The Channels Television reporter in Imo State,Mr. Enyitope Kutiyi, was rescued from à thick forest at Uhuba town, in Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of the state. The reporter, who was kidnapped on Monday has regained his freedom on after police launched massive manhunt for his abductors. He disclosed that the kidnappers had spies that had been calling on telephone informing them of every police moves thereby changing locations at will. The released reporter stated he embarked on hunger strike for his two days of captivity to avoid been poisoned his abductors. A deadly bomb blast has left several people dead and many others wounded after it struck the police headquarters. The scene of the blast   A bomb blast has rocked a police headquarters in Turkey leaving several people dead.   A woman and a baby are reported to be among the dead as rescuers keep searching through the rubble at the scene in Cinar district, Diyarbakir province.   Officials say the bomb was detonated at the entrance of the police complex. The blast also damaged nearby residential buildings.   The attackers then reportedly fired rockets at the headquarters.   Officials blamed the blast on Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) militants, who are active in the mainly Kurdish province.   No group has so far said it carried out the attack.   Diyarbakir province has seen violent clashes between PKK separatists and the Turkish army in recent months.
