Breaking News: Court Sends Embattled Fani-Kayode and Ex Minister to Prison

Reports from Premium Times reveals Femi Fani Kayode alongside a former federal minister, Nenadi Usman have been sent to prison till Friday when their bail applications filed by legal representatives will be considered.

The two ex-ministers as well as Danjuma Yusuf and a firm, Jointrust Dimensions Nigeria Limited, were on Tuesday arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 17-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorized by law.

Mrs. Usman is a former minister of Finance and director of Finance of the People's Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization in the 2015 election.

The accused are alleged to have stolen and illegally disbursed about N4.9 billion belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria which they have officially denied in court.
 
Fani Kayode has often times described his trial as a scheme by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to decimate the opposition party, PDP, which is an abberation to the tenets of democracy.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode Lagos State Government may soon join the growing number of states including Edo, Ogun and Anambra that have imposed death sentence on kidnappers, Vanguard reports. According to a private member bill sponsored by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, “any person, who kidnaps, abducts, detains or captures or takes another person by any means or tricks with intent to demand ransom or do anything against his/her, will commit an offence, and liable to a conviction of death sentence. The Abducted Channels TV reporter Regains Freefom

The Channels Television reporter in Imo State,Mr. Enyitope Kutiyi, was rescued from à thick forest at Uhuba town, in Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of the state. The reporter, who was kidnapped on Monday has regained his freedom on after police launched massive manhunt for his abductors. He disclosed that the kidnappers had spies that had been calling on telephone informing them of every police moves thereby changing locations at will. The released reporter stated he embarked on hunger strike for his two days of captivity to avoid been poisoned his abductors. Mr Kutiyi was brought out from the forest on Owerri-PortHarcout expressway. He described his abducutors as educated and smart people saying that the kidnappers told him that they embarked on crimes as a result of employment.
