#Football News: Why I am Joining a Nigerian Football Club - Joseph Yobo
Speaking in a new interview, former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, has revealed that his passion for the domestic league, is the reason why he has agreed to play for a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club.
It was gathered that the nation's legendary footballer, has already reached an agreement with the League Management Company (LMC) and will be assigned to a club for the last 12 matches, under the NPFL Elite Players Scheme.
According to reports, four teams – Kano Pillars, Akwa United, IfeanyiUbah FC and Wikki Tourists, are all fighting to land the former Everton and Fenerbahce defender.
A source close to the player told AfricanFootball: “He is looking forward to playing in the league; this is not issue of money because Yobo is very much comfortable. When NFF came up with the idea, he bought it completely and said he cannot wait to start.
“He is very passionate over this and is just waiting for the right club. To him, the league made virtually all of them so they have to do everything to bring it up and reposition it.
“Yobo is just giving back to the place that made him what he is now and he is passionate about that. The NFF revealed the idea to him during his testimonial and he was excited about that.”
