Saraki & Ekweremadu Appear in Court for 'Forgery' Trial with 35 Senators

 
Over their alleged forgery scandal, the embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu, have arrived at the Federal High Court at the federal capital territory (FCT) in Abuja at 8:48am in company of at least 30 senators who came in two Coaster buses and a string‎ of cars.
 
After a series of failed attempts to get them to court, Yusuf Haliru, the judge, on June 21, ordered that they be served the court summons through substituted means. The summons was then pasted on the notice board of the national assembly, ordering them to come before the court on Monday.
 
 
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, Salisu Maikasuwa, former clerk of the national assembly, and Benedict Efeturi, his deputy, are all facing charges of alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery of the senate standing rule‎s, 2015, brought against them by the federal government.
 
Count one of the charge reads: “That you Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa, Benedict Efeturi, Dr. Olubukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu on or about the 9th of June, 2015, at the National Assembly Complex, Three Arm Zone, Abuja within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, conspired amongst yourselves, to forge the Senate Standing Order, 2011 (as amended) and you thereby committed the offence of Conspiracy, punishable under Section 97 (1) of the Penal Code Law.”
 
Count two reads: “That you Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa, Benedict Efeturi, Dr. Olubukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu on or about the 9th of June, 2015, at the National Assembly Complex, Three Arm Zone, Abuja within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with fraudulent intent forged the Senate Standing Order 2011 (as amended) causing it to be believed as the genuine Standing Order, 2015 and circulated same for use during the inauguration of the 8th Senate of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, when you knew that the said Order was not made in compliance the procedure for amendment of the Senate Order, you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 364 of the Penal Code Law.”‎‎

The alleged Niger Delta militant killed by the Army on Friday   This is the photos of a Niger Delta militant killed by the Nigerian Army in Bakassi, Cross River State during a gun battle on Friday.   The Army had reported that its troops at the early hours of Friday, repelled an attack on its soldiers by killing seven armed militants at Efut Esighi in Bakassi local government area of Cross River State.     Capt. Kayode Owolabi, Army Public Relations Officer who disclosed this to newsmen on Friday in Calabar, said the militants attacked the Army post in Efut Esighi.       Owolabi linked the militants to be `boys’ of the most wanted militant leader, Benjamin Ene a.k.a `G1’, who has been on the wanted list of security agencies in the state.

A statue of Jesus in Korea is causing a lot of reaction on social media because of its unusual depiction of the Christ.     This photo above has caused ripples online after it emerged recently.   The cause of reaction is the unsually muscular depiction of Jesus. Police officer who made headlines for helping initiate the processes that led to the rescue of the schoolgirls kidnapped in Lagos has been honoured    Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau and CSP Abba Kyari   Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, on Friday, March 31, honoured CSP Abba Kyari, the police officer who was behind the team that led the Special Intelligence Response Team that rescued the 3 abducted school girls in Ikorodu, with a Presidential Award for Courage.   It will be recalled that CSP Kyari led the operation that rescued the kidnappedgirls on March 6th.   CSP Kyari also led the team that rescued the mother of Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, who was abducted in Delta state in 2012.   It is an honour well deserved.   See more photos below:
