Handing and Taking Over Ceremony Between Outgoing and Incoming IGP in Abuja


 
 
The newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotum Idris, has officially taken over as the former IGP, Dr Solomon E. Arase FDC, NPM (rtd) hands over.
 
The handing and taking over ceremony between out-going the newly appointed Inspector General of Police took place at the IGP’s Conference Hall in the Force Headquarters, Abuja, yesterday 22nd June, 2016.

The burial of the former governor of Kogi state and candidate of the APC in the inconclusive governorship poll in the state , Prince Abubakar Audu, takes place today at Ogbonicha in Ofu Local Government Area. Audu was buried at 2 pm Monday afternoon. The burial rites were conducted by a team of Imams . Before his burial, men and women of faith engaged in fervent prayers to bring Audu back to life. As the prayers continued, some people started shouting loudly that he had risen. This led to assertions that Audu came back to life. Rumours quickly spread wide. Some of the dignitaries that witnessed his funeral included former Edo State Governor Lucky Igbinedion, Senator Dino Melaye, Senators Rabiu Kwakwanso and George Akume. Others arrested in the case   Chief Vincent Duru, one of the men convicted in the celebrated case of the ritual murder of an 11-year-old boy, Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, on September 19, 1996 in Owerri, Imo State, has reportedly been hanged.   His sentence said to have been carried out on Sunday, November 13, 2016, is coming 13 years after his 2003 conviction.   To refresh memories on the case, which became popularly known as the ‘Otokoto murder’ at the time, here are 20 things to know:   1.
