Parents and Journalists Barred from Court as Ese Oruru Gives Testimony

Journalists and even parents of Ese Oruru were barred from a Federal High Court in Yenagoa on Wednesday as the young lady gave her testimony in court.
 
The 14-year-old Ese Oruru was allegedly abducted by Yunusa Dahiru, who is facing a five-count charge of criminal abduction, illicit s*x, s*xual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor.
 
The Prosecuting Counsel, James Amate, had told the court that Ese Oruru had been delivered of a baby girl on May 26, and was available to give evidence.
 
She was brought into the court at 3 p.m.
 
The judge, Aliya Nganjiwa, took her evidence in camera after all cases for the day were dispensed with.
 
Nganjiwa ordered everybody, including Ese’s parent and journalist to go out of the courtroom.
 
Kayode Olaosebekan, represented the accused and Mrs Dise Ogbise from the Federation of Women Lawyers, appeared for Ese’s parents.

Gunmen Abducted Paramount Ruler’s Pregnant Wife

Chief Asuquo Abia, the Secretary, Traditional Rulers Council, Esit Eket, told NAN in Esit Eket on Saturday that the gunmen invaded the palace of the paramount ruler in the wee hours of Friday morning. No fewer than 10 unknown gunmen on Friday night kidnapped the pregnant wife of Ubong Assam, the paramount ruler of Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom. The gunmen also abducted the four children of the traditional ruler. Abia, who is also the Village Head of Afaha Akpenedi, said the gunmen shot sporadically for over five hours from 1.30 a.m. to 6 a.m. “The gunmen destroyed part of the palace with dynamites and broke into all the rooms and carted away valuables,’’ he said. He said the gunmen arrived at the palace on Thursday claiming to be policemen from Abuja on an investigation. “They later came back the next day around 1.30 a.m. and shot sporadically till 6 a.m. in the morning,’’ Abia said. Girl Gets Expelled from the University after Posting this Picture Online

The photo shows Paige Shoemaker and her friend, Sadie Meier, posing together in the facial mask with the caption,  "Feels good to be finally be a nigga." The post was initially published by Shoemaker on her Twitter page but has since been deleted, according to KSNT. The post on her social media page which has caused public outcry Kansas State officials responded to the post, condemning Shoemaker and Meier's for the post: "Kansas State University was tagged today in social media posts that were racist in nature,"    "The posts were immediately removed from university accounts. Kansas State University does not condone this inappropriate behavior and expects the K-State family to adhere to our principles of community." After being expelled, Shoemaker posted a public apology on her Facebook page. She said,  "we never intended for the picture to offend anyone. We had only meant for it to be taken in a funny way.”
