105 Inmates Released from Kano Prisons

Alhaji Daburan Nuhu said the gesture was in fulfilment of the promises he made during his electioneering campaign.

He said that 700 women were also given N10, 000 each, to enable them to establish small businesses of their choice.

Nuhu urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the items and the money given to them, in order to enhance their socio-economic status.

Nuhu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has secured the release of 105 inmates from the Kano Prisons.

He made the disclosure while presenting Empowerment items to 108 women and youths in Kano on Monday.

The lawmaker said the inmates who were from his constituency, were set free from the Kano Prisons, after paying their fines.

He said that the decision to empower the beneficiaries was aimed at reducing poverty among women and youths, who were the most vulnerable in the society.

He said that within the last one year, he had awarded scholarships, purchased JAMB, NECO and WAEC forms for over 150 students from the constituency.
NAN reports that the items distributed at the occasion included tricycles, motorcycles and sewing machines, among others.
