Members of citizen united for peace and stability after keeping vigil in Abuja, the federal capital, staged a fresh protest on Wednesday, April 27.

Photos obtained on social media showed the protesters on the street, agitating over the non-passage of the now controversial 2016 budget and also demanded the resignation of the Senate president in Abuja.

Some of the protesters slept on the road as some were seen taking refreshments after having stayed there overnight, with several others holding placards, insisting that the Senate president, Bukola Saraki resigns.

Police in Dedza, Malawi arrested the couple for allegedly chopping off private parts of their newly born baby whose body was later dumped in a pit latrine. According to Malawi paper, M.S.T, the couple's neighbour saw what they had done and alerted the police, who immediately arrested them. The couple reportedly wanted to use the baby's body parts for ritual in order to get rich and that was why they even got pregnant.

No fewer than 95 shops were razed by fire that gutted the famous Kurmi market in Kano metropolis on Tuesday night. According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), one person died due to suffocation and another injured following the fire outbreak. The incident which occurred around 10pm yesterday night to the early hours of today was brought under control by men of the state fire service. The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be known.
