Chief Asuquo Abia, the Secretary, Traditional Rulers Council, Esit Eket, told NAN in Esit Eket on Saturday that the gunmen invaded the palace of the paramount ruler in the wee hours of Friday morning. No fewer than 10 unknown gunmen on Friday night kidnapped the pregnant wife of Ubong Assam, the paramount ruler of Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom. The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ondo State has suffered a set back as two former commissioners, Local government Chairmen and two former Lawmakers defected to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC.    They claimed that over 5000 of former PDP chieftains dumped the ruling party for the opposition Party according to the Vanguard. The former commissioners include that of former Adult, Technical and Vocational Education Mrs Kehinde Momoh and that of Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi. SSS 2 Student is Stabbed to Death During Football Match in Lagos

    A young boy has been stabbed to death during a friendly street football match in Okota, Lagos after the match turned violent.   One of the players stabbed an opponent to death at the weekend when the misunderstanding started.   According to Vanguard, some youths from Oseni Liade Street were playing football at the end of the street, when a group of boys from neighbouring Taiwo Street came to join them. But the visiting youths were told to wait for their turn.   At the end of the first round, another set of players, among who were the visiting youths, were expected to take over the football pitch.   But eyewitnesses said they were disallowed, an action that degenerated into a fight.
