2 Crushed By Train to Death in llorin

The train crushed the motorcyclist and his passenger, a middle-aged woman, when the motorcyclist tried to cross the rail line around 11 a.m.

The train later stopped some metres from the spot of the accident but there was nothing anybody could do as the victims had died instantly.
 
Hundreds of people, including motorists and commercial motorcyclists, trooped to the scene of the accident to catch a glimpse of the victims.
 
Some residents, including children, burst into tears when they sighted the lifeless bodies of the victims.
 
Some members of the commercial motorcyclist association at the gate of the Michael lmoudu lnstitute of Labour, identified the motorcyclist as one of their members.
 
Policemen from the Ganmo Police Station later evacuated the two bodies.
 
(NAN) A Kano to Lagos passenger train on Sunday crushed a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger to death in llorin.
 
A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who witnessed the incident, reports that the tragedy occurred along Kangu-lle-Araromi road in the llorin West Local Government Area.
 
Officials of the Ilorin office of the Nigeria Railway Corporation were not in their offices when NAN correspondent visited the office for comments.
 
However, the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Police Command, Mr Samuel Okasanmi, said the command would investigate the cause of the incident.

Gunmen Abducted Paramount Ruler’s Pregnant Wife

Chief Asuquo Abia, the Secretary, Traditional Rulers Council, Esit Eket, told NAN in Esit Eket on Saturday that the gunmen invaded the palace of the paramount ruler in the wee hours of Friday morning. No fewer than 10 unknown gunmen on Friday night kidnapped the pregnant wife of Ubong Assam, the paramount ruler of Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom. The gunmen also abducted the four children of the traditional ruler. Abia, who is also the Village Head of Afaha Akpenedi, said the gunmen shot sporadically for over five hours from 1.30 a.m. to 6 a.m. “The gunmen destroyed part of the palace with dynamites and broke into all the rooms and carted away valuables,’’ he said. A priest has shocked people when it was alleged that he lost all the money meant for refugees while gambling.    Father Amer Saka   Police have launched an investigation into Father Amer Saka,  a Chaldean Catholic priest from London, Ont., after church officials reported more than $500,000 slated for refugee sponsorship was lost to gambling.   According to The Star, Father Amer Saka, a priest working at the St. Joseph Chaldean Catholic Church in London, is under investigation after telling his bishop, Emanuel Shaleta, that funds intended to help new Canadians had instead vanished in vice, Shaleta said.   “He called me on the phone and . . . said he lost all the money.
