Good Deed: Police Officer Who Rescued the Kidnapped Lagos Schoolgirls Gets Presidential Honour (Photos)

Police officer who made headlines for helping initiate the processes that led to the rescue of the schoolgirls kidnapped in Lagos has been honoured
 
 Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau and CSP Abba Kyari
 
Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, on Friday, March 31, honoured CSP Abba Kyari, the police officer who was behind the team that led the Special Intelligence Response Team that rescued the 3 abducted school girls in Ikorodu, with a Presidential Award for Courage.
 
It will be recalled that CSP Kyari led the operation that rescued the kidnappedgirls on March 6th.
 
CSP Kyari also led the team that rescued the mother of Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, who was abducted in Delta state in 2012.
 
It is an honour well deserved.

  A SEMA official gathering the remains of the suicide bombers   Three suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers have died in an attempt to attack Muna Garage, Dabarmari and Dusuma villages in Maiduguri metropolis.   The incident occurred at about 4:38am on Sunday morning. Sara Baartman was abused and used as a circus animal by Europeans   On 29 October 1810, Saartjie “Sara” Baartman, a nineteen year old Khoisan woman signed a contract to be taken from Cape Town to London to be exhibited for entertainment purposes. Though she was illiterate, history allegedly claims she signed the contract with an English ship surgeon named William Dunlop who was a friend to Pieter Willem Cezar and Hendrik Cezar. Pieter Willem Cezar had bought Sara Baartman as a slave at sixteen and she worked for Pieter’s brother, Hendrik. It was here that she was named Saartjie, the Dutch form of Sara.   The history of colonialism was so unfair to her that she was stripped of her identity and her bodily integrity. A boy has died after his school headmaster flogged him to death for daring to sneak out of the boarding school without getting permission from him. Picture of Shamim Mullick beaten to death by the teacher   A Class VIII student died at a hospital in Murshidabad late Monday night with his parents accusing the headmaster of a private residential school of beating him to death.   The parents alleged that 13-year-old Shamim Mullick, their only son, died after he was brutally beaten up by headmaster Hanif Sheikh for going outside the school boundary to see them off when they visited him Monday evening.
